Being on safari in the African bush is an experience that’s difficult to put into words. You’re out there in the cathedral of the wild, a place where you can see the most beautiful and terrifying parts of yourself reflected back at you via nature. There’s such elegance there. You watch the animals and you realise that they’re living in deep acceptance of how life is. And that the only way we can be truly unhappy is when the way we think it should be, and the way it actually is, are different.

Any time I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I find my mind drifting back to Africa. To those quiet fireside moments at the end of the day, with the fireflies flitting through the trees. To those early morning walks, with the sun sifting through the trees, and those heart-pumping game drives that put you face-to-face with some of our planet’s most exotic creatures. To those lazy afternoons spent by the pool or napping in your luxury tent, as the world unspools before you.

There are stories to come, lots of them. But for now, I wanted to share a video that my multitalented husband Pete Windrim created from the recent safari we took with Luxury Escapes, working in Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. I hope it brings you the inspiration you need to get planning your own safari adventure very soon. Because we only live this wild and precious life one time, and this is one adventure you definitely won’t want to miss.
