I don’t know about you guys, but I can definitely forget to enjoy life when I’m at home. I get caught up in the swirl of feeling constantly productive, of moving at our usual light speed, of maintaining the relentless hustle.

Which is why my recent trip to Spain was such a fantastic rest for the soul. Ten days soaking up the Spanish holy trinity of art, architecture and alimentation, travelling from buzzing Barcelona to sun-drenched San Sebastian, exploring the vineyards of La Rioja en route to Bilbao to see Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim masterpiece, and finishing up in famously fun-loving Madrid.

We ate, we drank, we danced, we laughed. Back home, time spent like this would feel uncomfortably overindulgent. But in Spain, where locals need no excuse to relish the finer things in life, it felt just right.

Hopefully this little video gives you a taste of the good life, and inspires you to take a piece of that Spanish spice with you into your daily life. I’m certainly trying to.

A huge thanks to Abercrombie & Kent and Cathay Pacific for making this trip happen. I was on assignment, gathering stories for SMH Traveller.
