Organic Cashmere Auroville Cape

150.00 AUD

Visiting Auroville, the international community in Pondicherry, south India that’s been luring free thinkers since it started in 1968, was a dream come true. Its 2,400 residents come from 49 countries and are the ultimate flower children, living without money or ownership but with a barter system that’s in line with the founder’s vision of international human unity.
I ate at their delicious vegan cafes, was brought to tears by the beauty of their 29-metre-high gold spherical Matrimandir (it took the Aurovillians 40 years to build by hand), and shopped for spiritual books, natural beauty products, hand-rolled incense and handmade organic clothing at its boutiques.
I dreamt of never leaving. Of building a house there and spending my days doing yoga classes and sustainability workshops and working in the community gardens.
Alas, life called and I did leave. But I took a few reminders with me, including this handmade organic cashmere fully lined cape. With its deep front pockets, open sides and easy fit, it so embodies the free and easy vibes that Auroville exudes.
