Rajasthan’s Golden City of Jaisalmer rises majestically out of the sand of the Thar Desert. It’s a land filled with royal centotaphs of the erstwhile Maharajas of Jaisalmer, and where sunset camel treks through the desert are the only way to farewell the day.
Here, the camels dress almost as well as the stunning sari-clad women do, in colourful tapestries and with beaded, tasseled adornments hanging from their necks. I couldn’t get enough of them, and so ventured into the old town to peruse the treasure-filled stalls until I found some camel outfits all of my own.
This triple triangle mirrored and beaded wall hanging has graced my homes in both Mumbai and Sydney. Now it’s time for it to find a new home. I hope it can be yours.
