Ethiopian Coptic Cross Necklaces (Small)

70.00 AUD

I stumbled across these elaborate Coptic crosses in Lalibela, where I travelled recently for Ethiopian Christmas. There we joined 200,000 pilgrims from all around the country, some of whom had walked for months to experience three nights of rituals and celebrations.
Ethiopian Orthodox Christians wear these crosses as a symbol of their faith. The intertwined lattice design is said to represent everlasting life, and you’ll find metre-high versions of them in churches and monasteries all across the country.
No matter what your beliefs, though, each unique cross is a piece of history, a work of art harking from one of the most interesting parts of our planet. They also pair beautifully with any simple outfit on your choice of either chocolate or skin-coloured leather.
