Vintage Nepalese Altar Piece

50.00 AUD

Buried deep in the back alleyways of Kathmandu in Nepal, I discovered this beautiful vintage Nepalese sash slash altar piece. I immediately fell for its rare multi-coloured embroidery, which includes tiny swastikas. These are symbols of auspiciousness in Nepal, used to attract prosperity and harmony. I’ve often thought this piece, which has hung both above our fireplace as an altar piece and around my waist as a belt, has brought good luck my way. Hopefully it will do the same for you.

Condition: Slight ageing of fabric due to age and loose threads on back, as seen in photos.
Material: Hand-embroidered cotton with tassels.
Size: Approximately 185cm in length, including tassels.

Pieces featured in Nina’s Bazaar are vintage, pre-loved or handmade one-offs so there may be imperfections which add to the character of each piece.
