Rupee and Shell Armband, India

150.00 AUD

There she was, tangled in a heap of jewels in what has to be my favourite store in the whole of India, Ganesh Emporium in Udaipur, Rajasthan. A four-storey Aladdin’s cave filled with rare, one-of-a-kind pieces sourced from around the globe including stunning textiles and furnishings, paintings and pashminas, antique embroidered clothing and vintage costume jewelry.
I fell in love with her immediately – the rusty old rupees, the perfect little shells crafted into flowers that dangle from the arm and tinkle a little as you walk. I’d never seen anything like her, and haven’t ever since.
A piece of art, that’s as delicious worn on the arm as it is draped somewhere in the home.
