About This Trip

Exploring the Eternal City's timeless beauty, from the Colosseum to the Vatican, and discovering why Rome truly lives up to its legendary status.

My Experience

Rome exceeded all my expectations in ways I never imagined. The city has this incredible energy that's hard to describe - it's like walking through a living museum where history isn't just preserved, it's celebrated. The locals are warm and passionate about their city, and the food... oh, the food! Every meal was a celebration of Italian culture and tradition. What struck me most was how seamlessly the ancient and modern coexist. You can be sipping espresso in a trendy café one moment, and the next, you're standing in front of a 2,000-year-old monument. The Colosseum was absolutely breathtaking - I spent hours just sitting there, imagining the gladiators and the roaring crowds. The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel were equally impressive, with Michelangelo's masterpiece leaving me speechless.

Visiting the Trevi Fountain at sunset was magical. I made sure to throw my coin over my shoulder - legend says it ensures a return to Rome. The atmosphere was electric with tourists and locals alike.

Walking through the Roman Forum felt like being in an open-air museum. The ruins tell the story of ancient Rome's political and social life. The guided tour helped bring the history to life.

Café Culture

I embraced the Italian café culture, starting each day with a perfect cappuccino and cornetto. The cafés in Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori were my favorite spots for people-watching.

Travel Tips & Info

Best Time to Visit

Spring (April-May) and Fall (September-October) offer the best weather and fewer crowds. Summer can be hot and crowded, but the atmosphere is electric. Winter is quieter but some attractions have shorter hours.

Budget Tips

Rome can be expensive, but there are ways to save. Book attractions in advance, use public transportation, and eat at trattorias away from tourist areas. Budget €100-150 per day for a comfortable experience.

Food & Dining

Don't miss authentic Roman dishes: Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, Supplì (fried rice balls), and of course, proper Italian pizza. For dessert, try Tiramisu and authentic gelato. Always order coffee standing at the bar for the local experience.

Getting Around

Buy a Roma Pass for free public transport and skip-the-line access to attractions. Book Vatican tickets online to avoid hours-long queues. Wear comfortable shoes - you'll walk a lot! Learn basic Italian phrases - locals appreciate the effort.
